We Invite you to celebrate one of the most important dates in the Colombian Calendar, It’s BARRANQUILLA CARNAVAL time and LATIN JAZZ BRUNCH LIVE are bringing it celebratory hard + cooking hot for 12 hours straight with ROBERTO PLA presenting his full 20-piece Latin Jazz Ensemble Big Band up on the roof, alongside your Latin-Spired Host, The Legendary JOHN ARMSTRONG - with NIRK MOLINA the undisputed King of Vallenato livening up the evening session deep in the lounge.

In a specially extended session of musical madness, we have the mighty timbalero/bandleader ROBERTO PLA - a proud born-and bred Barranquillero himself, presenting his full 20-piece Latin Jazz Ensemble Big Band up on the roof, alongside your Latin-Spired Host, The Legendary JOHN ARMSTRONG with NIRK MOLINA the undisputed King of Vallenato livening up the evening session deep in the lounge.

Carnaval costume’s not a necessity - but you’ll be doubly welcome if you make the effort!

ROBERTO PLA (Live 20 piece ensemble) - Band on rooftop stage around 2pm, performing 2 live sets.

In a specially extended 12-hour session of musical madness, we have the mighty timbalero/bandleader ROBERTO PLA - Scion of a famous musical Barranquilla family – presenting his full 20-piece Latin Jazz Ensemble Big Band, for two blinding sets of Carnaval craziness. Expect plenty of Porro, Gaita, Cumbia and more for this special occasion, as well as Roberto’s usual trademark, hardcore salsa and latin-jazz magic.

Roberto Pla is the Colombian percussionist best known as the 'God-Father of Latin Music in the UK, for his contribution to live music particularly in Afro- influenced rhythms. His Latin Ensemble is a regular presence on the European Festival and TV scene.

NIRK MOLINA (Live) - Band live in the lounge from around 9pm, performing 2 live sets

NIRK MOLINA the undisputed UK-based King of Vallenato: Nirk’s trademark sound is accordion-led Cumbia, as well as countless other lesser-known indigenous Colombian and Afro-Colombian party and Carnaval music.

Nirk' as a percussionist has accompanied many famous Artists in the Vallenato Scene. Los Embajadores Vallenatos, Alex Manga & Los Diablitos, Luis Mateus, Los Gigantes Del Vallenato, Los Inquietos and El Binomio De Oro: Rafael Orozco & Israel Romero.

DJ JOHN ARMSTRONG (DJ Hosts both floors)

Our regular Latin brunch DJ/host John Armstrong is currently rummaging through his record collection: as well as the usual salsa, timba, Afro-Cuban jazz, dembow, reggaeton, cubaton, merengue, etc, expect serious Barranquilla Carnaval beats, from Cumbia, Porro and Gaita to Mapale, Merecumbe, Chande, Palenque, Afro and Colombian Champeta, Pacifico, Chimiria, Vallenato, ‘Salsa De Joe’ (if you know, you know!) and much more.

Carnaval costume is not a necessity - but you’ll be doubly welcome if you make the effort!
