Carwyn Ellis’ Rio 18 is a joyous evocation of Brazilian music put through a North Wales filter and a global perspective. Songs sung in Welsh combined with distinct pop and South American flavours drawn from Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Samba and Tropicalismo styles.

Carwyn brings his full big band to London for the first time following their appearance at BBC 6 Music’s Festival Live in Cardiff. Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18’s lastest album Yn Rio, out on Légère Recordings features the BBC National Orchestra Of Wales and marks the latest step, following its predecessors, Joia! and Mas, in Carwyn’s continuing Latin American musical journey.
