La Clave Stage @ LatinoLife 22
Anyone who thought Sunday was going to be the low-key festival day, didn’t know LatinoLife in the Park. With Eliane Correa's full on Cuban Timba band, followed by Daniel Vince’s finale with his electrifying and rhythm-infuseed latin-funk, spanish-rock (imagine Manu Chau on steroids), nobody was going to bed early.
But by then nobody could stop talking about the two Spanish girls who performed earlier, flying in from Barcelona courtesy of a collaboration between LatinoLife and The Spanish Wave, an organisation promoting nu-Spanish artists abroad. Lauren Nine wowed us with her saxophone skills and soul vibe and Queralt Lahoz captivated us with her super sexy set of powerful flamenco vocals and hip hop en español.
Before them, we had the sweet voice and Latin jazz infused neo-soul of Chilean Londoner Rosa Cecilia and Luisa Santiago whose Colombian salsa and fusion vibes, accompanied by the wonderful dancers of Talentos. They began a day of programming heavily packed with female-led acts. Carlos Paul didn’t mind being the lone male in the pack. The rockero from Ecuador lived up to his heart-breaker reputation, woowing the ladies with his Juanes vibe.
So you could say the ladies stole the show on Sunday, with Europe’s only female led Cuban Timba band and Luisa showing the men of the salsa world how its done. And let’s not forget the mesmerising co-lead vocalist Gata Ferlanga, who Daniel Vince band its spice. As we were saying, just when you thought Sunday was going to be the low key…
