In honour of Tim Maia’s 80th birthday, we’re bringing back our massive tribute to the legendary Brazilian musician. The 14-piece band will perform favourites like O Caminho do Bem, Que Beleza, and E Necessario, as well as the finest of his back catalogue from an extraordinary run of record releases in the 1970s and 1980s.

Building his confidence in playing various instruments, like the flute, vocals, drums and guitar during his early teens. Maia first dabbled in group bands before taking the ultimate risk on his solo career. His voice sparked a revolution in Brazilian mainstream culture that went well beyond music, particularly the rise of the Black Rio movement.

In his bassy and march-like tone, he expresses his desire to give the black people in Brazil a voice. Spoken highly of by all the soul greats from James Brown to Stevie Wonder, during the late 20th century, he was of influence not only on the sounds of soul around Brazil but around the world.
