Thinking Inside the Box

“Thinking Inside the Box” is an exhibition based on the archives of Latin American political art from Senate House Library, organized and led by students. The project dives into the largely unknown yet expansive collection of Latin American political posters and pamphlets of the mid-20th century, highlighting their historical value through a new perspective to create innovative connections with the present time.

Thinking Inside the Box is a co-curricular project at King’s College London between the Brazil Institute, King’s Center for Strategic Communications, the Department of War Studies and the Department of History. Working in close partnership with University of London’s Senate House Library, the project takes a deep dive into their largely unknown yet expansive collection of Latin American political posters and pamphlets of the mid-20th century.

The project aims to bring these materials to light through an exhibition of select pieces. The exhibit will be accompanied by original written works from both undergraduate and postgraduate students that engage critically with the visual, communicative, historical and political relevance of the materials.
