JURADO
JURADO

Manuel de Falla, arguably Spain’s greatest composer of the 20th century, first premiered his iconic ballet El Amor Brujo in 1915, dedicated to and starring Pastora Imperio - at the time Spain’s most celebrated flamenco singer and dancer.
In 1960, a 14-year-old Rocío Jurado was discovered by Imperio and immediately hired to sing at her club El Duende in Madrid. Jurado would go on to become one of the most successful Spanish singers of all time, selling over 16 million records worldwide.
Known for her powerful voice, daring outfits and inimitable stage presence, Jurado was unparalleled in her performances of flamenco, copla (Spanish folk songs) and ballads. In 1986, she recorded Falla’s El Amor Brujo under the baton of Jesús López Cobos.
Immerse yourself in an evening of evocative melodies, fiery drama and Andalusian charm as Sandy du Soleil and Xabier Casán pay homage to two Spanish legends with a selection of Jurado’s most passionate and heart-wrenching songs and a full performance of El Amor Brujo.
