Bossarenova Trio live at PizzaExpress Live Soho London
With “Levitar,” the Bossarenova Trio lifts off lightly and sunlit, trusting entirely in the song as a force that connects continents. After two albums reinterpreting Brazilian classics, the trio now presents, for the first time, a program of entirely original compositions—songs that reveal their full impact in a live setting.
The pieces were created on the move—many ideas came to Joo Kraus on the highway, carried by a distinct “Brazil vibe.” Initial sketches became demos in the home studio, where Paula Morelenbaum gave them character through her lyrics. Over the course of several months—between Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, and Ulm—the songs evolved into a clear, floating sonic world that translates effortlessly to the stage.
Sonically, “Levitar” is deeply rooted in Brazilian sensibility while remaining unmistakably Bossarenova: transparent, finely balanced, and open to electronic elements. Funky, grooving patterns meet gentle trumpet, warm vocals, and virtuosic piano—an interplay that unfolds its full dynamic range live while preserving a sense of lightness.
“Levitar” – to float – is an invitation to let go, drift, and experience the power of this music together in the live moment.
