Top 10 Salsa Hits of the '80s

We got real nostalgic here at LatinoLife over lockdown and started listening to all the great salsa tracks that have been produced over the years, from the '70s when Fania exploded onto the scene, thru the '80s and '90s when salsa romantica reigned to the mega stars of the Noughties. We thought we’d bring you our (very personal and subjective) pick of the biggest Latin dancefloor hits of each decade, before bachata and reggaeton took hold. Last week it was the '70s, the 'golden age' of salsa, this week its the '80s when salsa romantica was in ascendance with the likes of Frankie Ruiz and the tender meolodies of Grupo Niche, while Ruben Blades and Willie Colon kept stretching the boundaries of political salsa! Whether in New York of Cali, these were the hits that were filling the dance floors in the 1980s!
