These winter days may be dark, damp and dreary, but we've got you covered with this list of the top 10 Latin American shows on Netflix for you to stay in and watch during these cold winter nights. So, without further ado and in no particular order – let's get started!

1. El Ganador 

This series is a biographical drama based on the life of Nicky Jam. Whether you are a fan of his music or not, this series gives an unparalleled look at the turbulent past and career of this mega star. He even plays himself for added realism!

2. Money Heist 

This Spanish series has 2 seasons and covers the progress of a criminal mastermind who puts together a team to pull off the biggest heist in history – but not everything goes to plan…

3. Narcos 

In case you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you probably have heard of the smash hit series which covers Pablo Escobar’s humble beginnings as he turns into the 7th richest person of all time. The latest series is now out – covering the drug cartel in Mexico and the ruthless criminals who will stop at nothing for money and power.

4. Surviving Escobar: Alias JJ 

If you have seen and enjoyed Narcos then this is a series is for you. It covers the life story for Escobar’s personal hitman, JJ, who turned himself in and whilst in prison, many of his enemies are out to get him.

5. Elite 

Another hit series from Spain, this time covering the lives of troubled teens at glamorous new school when a bunch of new kids don’t fit into the neighbourhood. Good news – the 2nd season is also now available to watch on Netflix.

6. Ingobernable 

This suspense thriller covers the dramatic unfolding of the life of Mexico’s First Lady and the hidden truths which she unveils along the way. Brush up on your Mexican slang or just enjoy some amazing shots of the Mexico City, this is a series you won't want to miss.

7. La Reina del Flow (The Queen of Flow) 

Brace yourself for this Colombian novella and all its 82 episodes. Fans of Latin music will enjoy this story of a talented songwriter who is wrongfully imprisoned and is out to seek justice against the reggaeton singer who destroyed her life.

8. Four Seasons in Havana 

This short series is based on the best-selling novels by Cuban Author Leonardo Padura. This crime thriller takes place on the streets of Havana and will keep you hooked and in enamoured with the Cuban accent as detectives try to solve the case.

9. El Marginal 

This gritty Argentinian drama is set in prison where an ex-cop goes in undercover to investigate a kidnapping – but his identity must remain a secret.

10. Club de Cuervos 

This series was Netflix’s first Spanish Language production and it follows two wealthy siblings feuding over the football club they have recently inherited. Despite being a Mexican series, this witty drama has a very diverse cast from all over the continent. 

So, there you have a range of series to keep you occupied for the next few months. If it is a quiet night in or you simply want to practise your Spanish, don’t be afraid to give one of these a go!
