My childhood can be summed up with the words 1980s, Spain, family and sun. From my mother I inherited the ability to stay quiet and observe, from my father, the desire to make a group come together

The most memorable book I’ve read is “5000 B.C. and Other Philosophical Fantasies” by Raymond M. Smullyan. It made me think of daily things as philosophical games and possibilites.

The most influential figure in shaping me as an artist is Swiss choreographer Thomas Hauert. His work, both as audience and later as a dancer in his company ZOO, has influenced how I work, choreograph, and teach. He helped me listen to the body, develop an interest for the unknown, and a love for the complex and never ending possibilities in the moving body.

The last thing I celebrated was the premiere of my last creation “Flamingos” in Barcelona, and the birth of my son London James Quesada-Vickers

The last thing that made me cry was Bohemian Rapsody. I’ve seen it three times!

My life is full of…choreographing my love for bodies and music. On planes between USA and Europe. Learning to be a father. Cultivating my marriage.

The things that most give me pleasure are dancing and teaching. Sharing my love for dance and relationships. Relations between bodies and music, audience and dancers, and the connection between it all.

The most annoying thing in life is the battle between personal life and work time. I love both, and each choice makes one of them get hurt.

A virtue under-valued… ambiguity

A vice overrated…overproduction

I feel strongly about…the way we eat

A living person I admire…Chrysa Parkinson

The most important things to me now…are taking care of my family and developing in the arts

A piece of advice I’d give to my younger self…spend more money on good food.

I’ve never had the chance to thank…Deborah Hay, for introducing a dancing practice into my life.

I can’t stand…politicians who lie because of their hunger for power

I believe in…the intelligence of the body

Albert Quesada perfroms with Zoltán Vakulya  in OneTwoThreeOneTwo today and tomorrow, Friday, at Lilian Baylis Studio, Rosebery Avenue, London, EC1R. Tickets here
