The breathtaking artist interlaces Afro-Caribbean rhythms from the Dominican Republic with a unique neo-urban tone that takes you on an authentic, raw voyage of culture.

Yendry is a new upcoming artist from the Dominican Republic who grew up in Italy. Yendry Fiorentino was born in 1993 in Santo Domingo. When she was three, her parents moved to Turin, Italy. At the age of 19 back in 2012, Yendry took part in the Italian X Factor, reaching all the way the final! Yendry was then offered a contract from Sony which she signed but soon after terminated the contract in order to pursue her own independent career. Considering how the industry is set up this was a really bold and brave move from Yendry, it is also empowering to see a woman step into her worth and recognise her power and worth. It also demonstrates the artist Yendry is authentic, a artist that you cannot put into a box.

 

That being said you can hear and feel the Dominican rhythms Yendry radiates, bringing us a mixture of an alternative neo-centric Latin vibes. In 2020 Yendry made her stamp when she appeared on the infamous YouTube music channel “Colors” where she sang live “Barrio” which she released in 2019 which got 1.9 million views! The song barrio takes you to the streets of the Dominican Republic intertwined with Yendry’s raw but angelic vocals teleports you to a Caribbean dream.

 

 

Yendry also performed live on Colors “Nena” in 2020 which got a crazy 3.4 million views! Just from this song it’s impossible to ignore Yendry’s unique talent and her ability to infuse her Dominican roots with such an alternative sound and not to mention her lyrics that hit your soul in such a profound way. Now a days it is so difficult to find an artist that touches your core. In just one song she goes through so many vocal ranges and rhythms which just further showcases how versatile Yendry can be.

 

 

Artists like Yendry bring culture in a way that people from all backgrounds can connect to and relish in. In Yendry’s latest gripping song “Ya” she teleports us to Colombia where the visuals are set, the majestic scenery complements the elevating and inspiring lyrics where she sings about, saging her aura and having her own back living like she is immortal even though life could end any moment. Yendry is an artist like no other, combining ancestral teachings with Latin rhythms.
