Cali in a bottle
It’s perhaps no surprise that Ellie Webb would end up launching a drinks brand. “When I was younger I was always creating different kinds of concoctions then letting my little sisters be the guinea pigs!” says the young British-Colombian entrepreneur. Fast forward 20 years and Caleño - a non-alcoholic free spirit, distilling a unique combination of juniper and exotic inca berry - was launched with the vision of bringing ‘non-alcoholic spirits’ to the masses. Ellie says its Latinos’ ability to have fun without alcohol that became her inspiration."Colombian culture has always been close to my heart and I have poured that into the brand.”
Park Life Latino Style!
To celebrate Finsbury Park’s 150th birthday (and perhaps to appease an aggrieved Latin community in Seven Sisters) Haringey Council decided to invite La Clave Fest to host its 2019 event in one of London’s best and most loved parks. The Free Latin festival, now in its 4th year, has been growing year on year and is now London’s biggest Latin festival, after last year’s phenomenal success at The Scoop, on the South Bank. The festival, which takes place on Saturady August 3rd, showcases London's most outstanding Latin musicians and dancers as well as showing film screenings, a parade and staging its now legendary football ‘London Copa America’ tournament. It promises to be a family day out with the added flavour and atmosphere that only Latinos can create!
Peru Pop
We always get excited about new Latin American designers, and this young Peruvian has her sights set on the beaches of Europe this summer with a range of exotic resort wear. Camille Defago’s crazy culottes, kimonos and beach dresses are all printed with vibrant symbols of Peru and other places from her travels; from jaguars and pythons to bottles of mezcal redesigned in a bright, pop art, collage style.
