THE FEBRUARY REGGAETON RECAP

In the month of love, Anitta professes her love for Romeo Santos while ROA and Hades66 name drop Rosalía. A power duo brag about how hypnotising their ‘culos' are while a rising rapper gets hypnotised by the eyes of someone who seems to want nothing but attention. A fiery red-headed Puerto Rican wonders whether the person she’s falling for has eyes for another with an Argentinian duo asking "What are we?". Love is clearly playing on the minds of all our acts this February for better or for worse, but one thing’s for sure, all these songs are about to be huge tunes.

Anitta – Romeo

Anitta took this song as an opportunity, not only to drop a Reggaeton banger but also to express her love for a bachata icon, Romeo Santos; “Una propuesta indecente / Por si te pone' Romeo”. She isn’t shy either revealing, ”Aunque el DM está lleno / Yo por ti les picheo” , this Brazilian star didn’t come to play. The video is a raunchier take on the Shakespeare classic with Anitta grinding on a soldier mannequin pictured in an angel outfit. A drum breakdown ends the song along with the line, ”Hoy tú va a ser mío, yo no dije ‘maybe’”, Anitta’s got the power, who expected anything less?

De La Rose – Palgo

Releasing the day before Valentine’s Day, De La Rose returns with another bold drop after the explosive string of solo singles so far, ‘Cobro’ and ‘Los Fin De’. The outro of latest hit ‘Palgo’ toys around with special effects as the Puerto Rican’s vocals are helium-induced, “Me lo vo'a, vo'a, vo'a”, contrasting the deep distortion found in ‘Los Fin De’. If there’s one thing that’s present in all her tracks, its some serious synth stints and loops, which along with her nonchalant persona make up a big part of her brand within the Latin music industry so early in the game, it’s impressive.

Emilia, Luiza Sonza – Bunda

A plucky electronic synth kicks things off and continues throughout with some braggadocious 808’s and synths following suit. Emilia could sing anything because “En mis cadera' se perdió y anda buscando un mapa”, her admirer is well and truly hooked. Sonza may be talking about all things culo but she makes sure to keep it holy, rocking a cross chain attached to her bikini and a cross shaped crop-top in varying shots. La tomatina has some competition too as Emilia and Luiza, alongside a cohort of señoras are putting a spin on this festival swapping tomates (tomatoes) for duraznos (peaches).

Yan Block – 111

Off the back of his Spotify ‘Artists To Watch 2025’ pick, Yandré has dropped his angel-number inspired ‘111’, which sees him infatuated by a woman and her beautiful eyes. The lady Yan is thinking about may be his angel but she sure knows how to make him sin “Esa boca me tienta y me vuelve a mentir”. The beat sounds murky and underwater which makes perfect sense as the video’s main background is a gorgeous beachscape. Yandré has a thing for angel numbers as this new single joins tracks, ‘333 and ‘444’. Her eyes clearly never left Yan’s mind ending the track “Qué fácil tú me envuelve' con esos ojo' verde.”

ROA & Hades66 – PPC

It’s a double Puerto Rican bill with rappers ROA and Hades66 taking turns talking about “Pasión sin romance”. The self-proclaimed 'Lobo' (Wolf) admits his “Pichearía diez orgía', una noche con Rosalía / Porque solo tú cumples mis fantasias”. There are bass-induced trap beats laced throughout this single with moody and melancholic synths that match the blurred lines in lyrics like, “Si me vas a olvidar, ¿entonce' por qué no te aleja’?” Fellow collaborator Hades66 even manages to name drop ROA, “Yo te hice el remix como ROA del jetski”. The relationship is confusing but it’s a no brainer this song is a smash.

Bonus Track:

La T y La M & Lauty Gram – Somos o no somos?

Argentina all round with this one as duo La T y La M join forces with Lauty Gram to understand what is happening with their relationships. Titled ‘Somos or no somos?’ which translates to ‘We are or we aren’t?’, navigating this is difficult. There’s a lovely keytar melody and nicely paired percussion as the three sing lines like, “Yo te querré aunque me sienta extraño” and “Tenemos tiempo pa’ equivocarnos”. The three are madly in love and singing over a cumbia rhythm, “Si te veo con él yo te perdono, y te lo asomo”. The things people do for love!
