Ludmilla & Victoria Monét – Cam Girl
The Jaguar and the former MC Beyoncé team up and document the footage for all to see on their collaboration aptly titled ‘Cam Girl’. The track blends hip-hop with elements of baile funk. “Ludmilla in the house” kicks this collaboration off while Monét joins later with a direct, “Pull out your phone put it on cinematic”, closely followed by, “I ain’t not actress but I’m all about that action”. This Brazilian American link up is fit for a club setting, especially one that includes serenading friends with a dance or two.
Rauw Alejandro – Buenos Términos
The Puerto Rican performer is on a smash single streak as he returns with his brand-new album’s second instalment ‘Buenos Términos’. He may be travelling the world on the ongoing Cosa Nuestra world tour but he’s still able to deliver a reggaeton remedy that cures any summer blues as we prepare for the last few days of the cloud-free, sun-filled season. This new single may lean into his reggaeton roots but he still ensures to carry some of his Cosa Nuestra persona into the song’s accompanying video where he can be seen adorned in a range of high fashion tailored suits ¡Muy guapo!
J Balvin & Jay Wheeler – Si Te Vas
Sombre guitar plucks begin the track, a toned-down chorus acts as the introduction and a drum loop 46 seconds in officially kickstars the fully-fledged reggaeton rhythms. Balvin and Wheeler use this lovestruck-heartbreak number to contrast lines like “Pa' imaginarte con otra persona / Me muero de celos y no colaboras”, while stating, “Y si no vuelves, sé que en el futuro voy a ser feliz”. This confusion-fuelled collaboration is addictive, almost like the love that the two vocalists are discussing throughout the single. It seems the Colombian is continuing his new Mixteip era as this duet continues the current aesthetic.
Bia X Young Miko – Birthday Behaviour
Taylor Swift may have just announced her The Life of a Showgirl era, but Miko also wants to publicly inform listeners of her lover’s latest venture as she announces “Estás en tu bad b*tch era”. After consulting a number of impressive US exports, Bia hosts a Puerto Rican party with Young Miko for her latest link up where she poses one very loaded question “¿Quieres comer?”. The track is a club-ready, 808-driven, sultry single and it’s packed with wordplay and double entendres as Bia states “And you got to bring a gift if you come here”.
Greeicy – Quiero +
Hearing “Ovy on the drums” as soon as the track starts, this is guaranteed to be a banger. Steamy vocals, a groovy but subtle bassline and a flurry of breathy and airy adlibs, the track is filled with romance throughout. This song is the definition of a happy accident as the chorus swoons, “Contigo conecté, te / Yo no sé pero quiero más, bebé”. ‘Quiero +’ official music video features the Colombian performer dancing with her ladies in front of a pink wagon and causing a commotion in a mechanic workshop. Greeicy’s past two solo releases have been very guitar-heavy, this marks a much-appreciated switch up.
Bonus track:
Paloma Mami – Astros
Mami starts the track “Me dijeron los astros que tú y yo no combinamos” before listing every little detail that she loves about her significant other. The Chilean expert has made a cathartic number fit for perreo y llanto and with Botlok on production, you can expect nothing less. This music maestro has worked with almost every name in the game from Bad Bunny and J Balvin to rising stars like De La Rose and Hades66. It seems the name-dropping trend has returned to reggaeton as Mami makes sure to check a classic Sci-fi character, “Como el anillo de Frodo yo era tu preciosa”.
