1. With his aura of helplessly romantic cheaky-chappy, we all fell in love with Darín in The Secret in Their Eyes as he moped over the gorgeous Soledad Villamil, and yet acted with such self-restarint (so un-Argentine one might say). With its characteristic personality reduction, Hollywood Reporter flattered the said un-shaven charm by putting Darín in 'the look we like' list.
2.Like many succesful Latin Americans, Darín is of Lebanese descent (like a certain Colombian pop star). Born in Buenos Aires, he is obviously half Italian too, from a family of entertainers. His parents, Ricardo Sr. and Renée Roxana, and his son, also Ricardo, but widely known as El Chino Darín, are ralso enowned actors in Argentina.
3.Darín rejected the opportunity to play a drug trafficker in Denzel Washington film Man on Fire, due to being unhappy at Hollywood’s negative stereotyping of Latin Americans.
4.In 2006 the King of Spain granted him Spanish citizenship as a person of special merit.
5. If, as many people predict, Wild Tales is among the nominations for Best Foreign Film at the 2015 Oscars, it will be the third time a Darín film has been nominated for an Oscar, following 2001’s Son of the Bride, and The Secret in Their Eyes in 2010 (which won).
