La Patagonia

The abundant Argentine paraphernalia adorning exposed brickwork give the feel of an authentic bodegón, particularly the many black and white photos provided by owner Noah’s illustrious Argentine ancestry, which include right-wing Presidents, Marxist intellectuals and Patagonian explorers. Culinary offerings range from classic dishes from Italian-Argentine cuisine such as fresh handmade pastas and milanesas (breaded escalopes) as well as classic parrilla. Monthly live tango nights add to the atmospheric independent abode.

Buen Ayre

Established in 2004, Buen Ayre is a local Hackney joint which captures the spirit and community of a traditional Argentine neighbourhood parrilla. Head Chef John Rattagan was born in Argentina, where he grew up in a farm in Buenos Aires Province with his Irish mother and Irish-Argentine father. For John and the team at Buen Are, barbecues are a lifestyle which they bring to the cobbled streets of Hackney’s Broadway Market.
