The UK's first ever Hispanic Awards gala party. "The hottest Latino ticket in the annual London diary." Carlos Acosta, Principal Dancer of the Royal Ballet
Latinolife.co.uk is proud to present the LUKAS (Latin-UK AwardS) 2011 gala party, which follows the invite-only ceremony for the winners and runners-up of the LUKAS Awards, on March 12th at Floridita, London's classiest Latin venue at 10pm.
The LUKAS are the first ever awards to recognise the contribution of the Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese communities to UK society as well as British contribution to Latin American culture in the UK.
Between November and February 120,000 people voted online for their favourite nominees in over 50 awards for outstanding achievement in the Entertainment and Services industries and Community. The winners, now decided, will receive their awards in an invitation-only ceremony with live Flamenco, Salsa, Tango and Brazilian performances from the winners, followed by a party with more performances and the UK's best Latin DJs.
This is THE biggest event of the year for the UK's 750,000 strong hispanic and portuguese speaking communities, where the Latino creme de la creme will be present. It is first time all the different latin culture worlds (tango, salsa, flamenco, Brazilian etc), have been celebrated under one umbrella, as well as latino achievements in services (food, media) and commnunity (human rights, education etc).
Tickets for the party will be 10 pounds, available from www.ticketweb.co.uk or on the door. It is advisable to book beforehand since we do not know how many tickets will remain due to the number of guests attending the ceremony beforehand.
"The LUKAS Awards are a great platform to celebrate the contribution of Britain's Latin American Spanish and Portuguese communities."
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London
"No one deserves recognition more than those, whether originating from Latin America or not, who have dedicated years of creativity and hard work to diffusing our wonderful arts and cultures, our perspectives and energy to British society. The LUKAS Awards are a great way to celebrate this collective effort and I am looking forward to the ceremony, which will no doubt become a the hottest Latino ticket in the annual London diary." Carlos Acosta, Principla Dancer of the Royal Ballet
"I would like to congratulate all the nominees who participated in the LUKAS Awards. The UK is, without a doubt, a multicultural country and the Hispanic community, which I am proud to be part of, plays a very important role in it. The LUKAS Awards are a celebration of the work of Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese people in the UK as they show to the rest of the country a glimpse of their talent, creativity and passion." Miriam Gonzales, wife to the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg

Babado forte!!! Abalou Paris em chamas!!! Essa festa vai arrasar!!! Sorry Amaranta, you have to ask someone to translate my expressions, because I have no clue how to put that in words! Congratulations for the iniciative and hard work. To do all of that, take all the criticism and sometimes hurtfull comments (sorry about that, but sometimes the Latin blood boils too much!) on board and still keep running the magazine was "JUST AMAAAAAZING!" I am personally very grateful, because with this awards, I have managed to discover so many good artists, people from the community, services and completely fall in love with them. Some of them will have to put a restraining order against me, because I am going to stalk them. Just joking!!! Now, I don't feel like just an isolated nominee, who had the good fortune to win. I feel like a big fan of so many fantastic people and that all of us are part of something much bigger than a competition. And girl, that feels soooo good!. Together, we are a big celebration of LIFE! LATINO LIFE! Big kiss to you Amaranta, all the staff in the magazine, all nominees and winners. See you at the Floridita and LET'S PARTYYYYY!
