HOMEGROWN: The Original Lockdown Session

In 2001, emerging from lockdown, LatinoLife launched our first Candela Session to celebrate the announcement of Candela Records, the UK's first ever record label dedicated to Urban Latin Music, created in early 2021 in partnership with Atlantic/Warner. Hosted by the legendary dancehall artist J Spades, we introduced via live stream the most exciting rappers in London, in unity with their brothers in Bogotá. The 30-min program showcased from London, rappers Angelo Flow, Guala, Faqundo Gonzalez and Esko and in Bogotá, Lion Fiah, Cagta flex & Mad Glow. it was a chance to show the UK not only how Latin Music has taken the world by storm but how the UK is adding its own vibe. With its burgeoning urban music scene and its multicultural make-up, London provides the perfect stage for this uniquely UK Latin showcase and this was the UK's first chance to see its own unique homegrown urban Latin artists at their best, in a musical meeting of minds and vibes between the UK and Colombia ⁠. Just the beginning of great things to come!
